Sang’s Fundraiser

Sang’s Fundraiser 2012

Last year, in June 2011, we organised Sang’s first major fundraiser, dedicated to relieving some of the hardship suffered by the less fortunate.

On his annual trips to Vietnam, to lessen their struggle, Sang has been offering families from around the Rach Gia area rice, noodles and soy sauce, items tat form part of their staple diet.

The informal fundraiser was held at Sang’s Restaurant was the first of many opportunities to realise Sang’s dream of helping those in need.

In 2011 we were able to raise enough funds to distribute 8000 kg of rice, 4000 packets of noodles and 800 bottles of soy sauce, with the help of Sang’s relatives in Vietnam. Sang also provided one family with a fresh water pump, a toilet and septic tank, simple things that a lot of people do not have access to. Sang also arranged to have the mud floor in their modest home concreted, as well as the area in front of their house.

The distribution day in Vietnam is now realised as an annual event for the people of the Rach Gia area and the day includes blessings and prayers from local Buddhist priests and monks.

Many local businesses kindly donated prizes, which went into a raffle and an auction on the final night. Over 3 nights in May and June 2011 we raised more then $11.000,00. All takings from Sang’s restaurant went directly into supplying rice, noodles, soy sauce and transport costs.

Sang’s loyal staff and customers volunteered their time to help Sang realise his dream of caring for the impoverished with small gestures, expand human kindness and unselfish giving to whomever needs it most, regardless of creed or background.

THIS YEAR WE ORGANISE 3 FUNDRAISING NIGHTS:

Sunday 22 April 2012

Sunday 20 May 2012

Sunday 10 June 2012

A set menu will be on offer with all takings going directly to some of the most remote and needy people in Vietnam
